Getting there

Stellenbosch is the perfect hub from where to explore Cape Town, the coast and other wine regions. The Cape Town International Airport is a twenty minute drive from Stellenbosch, Cape Town central city is a 40 minute drive away and popular city beaches are a mere 30 minutes’ drive from the region.

By Air

South African Airways offers full service flights to Cape Town International Airport from a number of destinations, as well as cross country flights from destinations like Johannesburg and Durban. To search flight options and make bookings visit SAA’s website.

Other major operators like Emirates, British Airways and Lufthansa also offer connecting flights from most major cities to Cape Town International Airport.

Internal flights from Johannesburg and Durban, offered by domestic airlines, take around two hours and can be booked with Kulula.com, Mango, South African Airways, FlySafair and Skywise.

By Road

A world-class road network links all major points within the greater Stellenbosch region, as well as Cape Town and surrounds. Both National Roads (the N1 and N2) link to Stellenbosch.

There are many options for international visitors looking to rent a self-drive vehicle, but drivers require an international driver’s permit or a drivers licence from their country of origin that has been certified by their Consulate.

We recommend First Car Rental for car rentals, chauffeur drives or group transport bookings.

Traveling shorter distances? Arrive by coach: Elweirda, Greyhound, Intercape, Translux.

Alternatively, travel by train: Metrorail, Shosholoza Meyl, Blue Train or Rovos Rail.
